50 Mile Bike Ride!

Daniel is working toward his Boy Scout Eagle award, and one of the big hurdles left was the 50 mile bike ride! Dad invited the other scouts and they rode 50 miles on the Rail Trial in Park City. They left at 5:30 in the morning from our house and were gone 12 hours round trip! The bike ride started out a little rocky, since they hit a patch of thorns right off and had to repair or replace several tires before moving on. But, on a gorgeous, cool day they accomplished all 50 miles in under 8 hours! Eagle Scout, here we come!

Antelope Island

Dad and Janey and Ellie went camping on Antelope island while Mom and the older kids were getting ready for graduation. They saw lots of wild life up close and personal and especially loved seeing many barn owls. They also enjoyed biking the island until a big rain storm stopped them short. I'm so glad they love nature and adventure! Thanks Dad.

Snow Canyon

My mother's day present this year was a trip with Steve down to Southern Utah to bike beautiful Snow Canyon. Along with the amazing scenery, we saw many fun birds, including the curious Canyon Wren pictured above. We biked miles of trail and hiked through the red sands. A quick and timely getaway that was the perfect present!

Kung Fu Ride

The cool weather on Monday, Memorial Day, did not stop us! Determined to go on a family bike ride, we donned jackets, gloves and stocking caps and jumped on our bikes. First we rode a few miles to In-and-Out burger and replaced all the burned calories with a yummy lunch. Then we rode to the movie theaters to watch the new Kung Fu Panda 2 movie. I wasn't quite sure where we would chain up our bikes, but there was a bike rack right at the entrance. We had the best parking of anyone there!

It had been threatening rain all day, but it graciously waited until we rode home and parked the last bike in the garage before it started to sprinkle! Our total trip was about 10 1/2 miles. I think a new holiday tradition has been born.
