Shakespeare Festival

Daniel earned a trip the Cedar City and the Shakespeare festival by completing all the requirements in his Shakespeare class last year. Unfortunately, they were not doing any Shakespeare shows appropriate for young teenagers this year, so the saw Les Mis instead. Daniel loved the trip, but came home tired since he tried hard to stay up all night. He made it till 4 am, but also gave himself a cold.

Much Ado About Something!

Monday was the closing night of Steve's Shakespeare Troop's production of Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing." What an amazing job they did! They worked extremely hard for the last two months putting the play together.

Steve L. scored the lead role as Benedick. He was fabulous! They placed the play in ancient Japan and wore goregous hand sewn kimonos and samori make-up that really added to the production. It's amazing what a bunch of moms with sewing machines can do!

They pre-sold out their 3 shows and ended up adding a forth. The best part of the whole experience is the wonderful friendships they have made over the last 2 years!

A Comedy of Errors

Steve L.'s Shakespeare class just finished their production of Shakespeare's "Comedy of Errors." Steve was cast in a lead roll, as Antiphilus of Syracuse. He had over 200 lines to memorize and did an outstanding job! The entire production was first rate, and all the actors did a great job and had a lot of fun. They will take the production to Heber at the end of this month and the different Shakespeare Troops in the state with perform for each other.

This is one of the reasons I love homeschooling! It's amazing what a bunch of families coming together can create!

The Forgotten Carols by Whitney

This week we went to see the play of The Forgotten Carols. It was amazing! There was excellent acting with an enteraining and meaningful plot line. The songs that it featured were amazing, and I wish that we had bought the DVD. My favorite song was "Homeless". I hope that I will be able to see it again next year. Thanks to Uncle Tyler who got us tickets!

Much Ado about... by Steve L.

We went to see the play much ado about nothing last Friday. A Shakespeare original, the Utah Vally University actors put an interesting twist on things by instead of placing the scene in Italy, like it's supposed to be, they put it in Mexico! It's an interesting tale of two people in love, a scheming rival, a hilarious guard and many surprising twists and turns. If you want to know the full story - read, listen to, or watch much ado about nothing. You can probably find it at your library. (I probably sound like a commercial).
