Issue 100!

Park City

We had originally planned a trip to St. George last weekend, but Steve L. couldn't miss any play practices and Whitney had the "Student Showcase" at school, so we opted for Park City instead. Steve was able to take Janey and Daniel up Thursday night and the rest of us joined them Friday night. We enjoyed the Olympic Park, swimming for hours, rock climbing, nature walks and snowball fights, games, movies, eating out and eating in, and browsing main street. Thanks mom and dad for letting us use the condo for a long overdue vacation!

Ellie was born the wear "gum boots" (as they are called in NZ.) They are the best for splashing and exporing!

Looking at some pins from the olympic pin collection.

Watch out world! Here we come!

Needle Felting Queen

Whitney blew away the judges with her knowledge of alpacas, wool, wet felting and needle felting at the annual student showcase. They were judged on knowledge, creativity, presentation, and communication. Whitney walked away with the grand prize of $100! Her favorite part was seeing the school's Yoga teacher carrying "The Encyclopedia of Felting" through the hall this week having been inspired by Whitney's project. A huge thanks to the Dixons in New Zealand for introducing Whitney to caring for and showing Alpacas and the art of felting!

Old Hollywood

Whitney's high school had an "Old Hollywood" theme dance this weekend. Whitney put together this costume for the dance. I think the fur hat she made is especially clever.

Orange Belt

Daniel passed his orange belt test in Karate on Saturday. He takes his sport very seriously and his forms are very crisp. Way to go Daniel!

Antelope Island

Steve took the little girls exploring on Antelope Island and taught them the finer points of birding. Janey and Ellie have been avid bird locators for years, but Saturday they learned to look up birds they saw in the field guides and identify and date their finds. They also got to play in the sand, collect rocks, and see real bison. I call that a good explore!

A long billed curlew.

A couple of cute rare chicks!

And the Winner Is. . . .

Steve L. competed in his third Speech and Debate League tournament held at Weber State this weekend. This time they held a two day competition. After the first day of competing Steve made the finals and returned Saturday to compete again. He took first place in Impromptu and scored a sweet football!

Getting a Life!

Steve scored 3 more merit badges at this week's Court of Honor (Citizenship in the Word, Cinematography, and Emergency Preparedness. He also was awarded the rank of Life Scout. Next stop Eagle!

Happy Easter

Mom had the Easter Bunny hide puzzle pieces instead of candy in our plastic eggs this year and we put it together while listening to Conference. We had such a good time that I believe a new tradition is born!
Happy Easter from our family to yours!

Pinewood Derby

Daniel's winning car, The Money Racer, took third place and the bronze medal in the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby!

A Birthday and a Baptism

The big day finally arrived! When Janey blew out the candles at her seventh birthday party she exclaimed, "Yes! Only one more year until I get baptized!" It has literally been a year count down for her. I have never seen anyone more excited. She danced and sang and twirled all day in anticipation. Steve was afraid he would be able to immerse her, she was so bubbly. Both sets of Grandparents, Great grandma, Aunts, Uncles and cousin galore show up to show their support and celebrate Janey's big day. When she came up out of the water she giggled with shear delight and innocence. She also tackled fasting for the first time today and bore her testimony in Sacrament meeting. We are so very proud of her!
